5 Reasons You Suck at Affiliate MarketingAffiliate Marketing can be extremely rewarding or extremely frustrating. So if you are at a point I was at one time and you have not had any profits, it is time to be humble, admit you suck and get some real answers.
1. You signed up for fifty affiliate programs and you are so overwhelmed that you are doing a bunch of busy unpoductive work. Focus on one program at time until you get the hang of things. Sometimes we sabotage our success by getting involved in too many things at once. You start doing busy work like logging in the websites over and over to see if anyone "happened" to find you and sign up. Personally, I think some people do this purposely (sometimes unconsciously) because they fear success. Trying two many things at once give the feeling that you are trying because are involved in so many things. So when it does not work, he can tell yourself you tried and "it wasn't for you". That way you don't have to face the truth. Stay focused. Trust me, once you master the skill of affiliate marketing, you will be able to juggle a few programs with success. 2. You treat your affiliate marketing business like a hobby. If you treat your business like a hobby, it will pay you like one. GET RID OF THE TV. It is a constant emotional distraction design to keep you pulled in. If you dream of working for yourself then it is the absolute worst thing you can do with your time. If you have dreams, then you will be attracted to shows where people are trying to achieve them (i.e. American Idol). Investing your time in watching people on their journey to success pulls you off your own. Set a goal to be at your computer working productively and do not allow anything to distract you. Do not fool yourself into believing you can watch TV at the same time. Mothers: Get your kids on a consistent schedule and be VERY firm about it. 3. You didn't prepare Research. Research. Research. Find the affiliate program that most effectively targets what product or service the consumer is looking for. Ignore the urge to go with the first idea that pops in your head. Research the market to see how competitive and profitable the market may be. 4. You Refuse to PreSell Keep in mind that everyone is selling on the Internet and that people in general prefer to buy from people they feel comfortable with and like. Relationship building is very important in Internet marketing. When a visitor is first introduced to your website or email it is similar to meeting a stranger. When meeting a salesperson face to face they are also initially a stranger but a good sales person would invest the time in making you feel comfortable hopefully make you like them. In affiliate marketing you should aim accomplish the exact same thing. Be creative. Personality can jump off a page. The key is to create a open to buy mentality. You want the person to consider what you offer before they see any of the details. You want to create trust and convince them that you are an expert. 5. You are not using a supportive affiliate marketing program Make sure you are using an affililate program that supports your success. I personally will not deal with companies that do not have a real phone number. Although I mostly use email when communicating with my affiliate marketing company, in the beginning it made me feel good that I had personal coaches I could speak with that were willing to talk to me. Also make sure that the company provides you with tools to assist you in marketing. Banners, email promotion and text links. My company provided a quick guide to get started that was very helpful. A company that keeps in touch with you through your process are investing in your success. They understand how it feels to get started and know what makes people quit. Frequent emails ensuring that they there can be very supportive. One last tip. I decided not to include it in the list because I don't want to scare you. You can have success in affiliate marketing without a personal website (really, you can) but at some point it will help you to have one. The only reason to not have one is if you are building an income to be able to afford one. Affiliate marketing was so perfect for me because when I started I had nothing to invest. So I gave up weekend, useless phone conversations and the television (some sleep too) and grinded out! Once you are able to drive traffic to your own website you will be able to capture emails that you can use for other ventures online. I wish you all the success you can handle! Never give up, the fact you are attempting to be your own boss makes you very unique.
