Concert survival guideConcert survival guide tips for the Cooeey concert and festival goer. Going to a concert? Needs some festival tips? Missed out on concert tickets? Let us help you with our concert survival guide.
Have you ever missed out on concert tickets to your favourite band? Been stuck at an outdoor music festival wearing shorts and thongs while it's pouring rain? All music fans will tell you that seeing a band live with 10,000 other fans is a greater experience than listening to their album alone in your room. This year huge international acts will be holding concerts throughout Australia including Pink, Guns and Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Gwen Stefani and Beyonce. Australian acts who are touring include Eskimo Joe, Silverchair, Jet and Thirsty Merc. And with so many gorgeous locations and our great weather it's no wonder Australian's can enjoy loads of outdoor festivals. From the Big Day Out and Splendour in the Grass to the Falls Festival and Homebake, there is something for everyone. Tips for buying tickets - Members of a bands official website are often given passwords to a presale, the ultimate queue jumper. - Buy online - log into the website at least 10 min before tickets go on sale. Be fast, patient and remember to hit refresh if you can't get access. - Be wary of buying tickets on Ebay from scalpers. There is no guarantee they are genuine tickets and they are often overpriced. Check the seller's details, such as their feedback rating, before you buy. - If you're willing to take a gamble some concerts will sell tickets at the door for shows not sold out. These may also be at a cheaper price. Tips for the event - Dress for comfort not fashion. Wear sensible shoes & clothes and check the weather forecast before you leave home. Bring a raincoat if needed. - Get your bearings and find out where everything is - food stalls, bars, first aid, loos, etc. - Using portaloos ??unfortunately you're going to have to go at some stage. Make sure you wash your hands after, wet wipes can be very handy if the loo is a mess. Clothes pegs for the nose are an optional extra. - Charge your mobile phone but don't assume that you'll get a signal. Arrange a rendezvous point in case you get split up from your mates. - Bring some food, fruit is good to keep up your energy. It's also handy to throw at the bands if they suck. - Be on time. Keep a timetable of bands playing in your pocket/bag. The last thing you want is to miss your favourite performer. - If you don't have an allocated seat, get to the event early for a good standing position. - Drink plenty of water - it'll stop you dehydrating. And if it's sunny, slap on the sunscreen and a hat. Avoid large novelty felt jesters hats - you'll look like a bogan and really annoy the person standing behind you. Autor: Melanie
