Is Your Teenager Safe On The Road?

With more than 3000 drivers under the age of 25 killed in car accidents each year, education in road safety should be a prime consideration for parents embarking on the purchase of a son or daughter"s first car, according to Young Marmalade, designers of a unique car purchase and insurance scheme.

The combined car purchase and insurance experts have geared up to help young people achieve standards of excellence in road safety with easy access to driver safety courses such as Pass Plus and Drive and Survive while enabling affordable purchase of vehicles with a minimum of four NCAP stars.

"One of the most trying challenges a parent can face is to teach their children about safety on the road," said Crispin Moger, director of Young Marmalade. "The days of the green cross code are long gone so Young Marmalade has developed a joint car purchase and insurance scheme making the eager new road users a much more receptive audience to mum and dad"s words of caution."

With the increase of cars on the road, changing infrastructures topped with the new trials and tribulations of yet another nonchalant new generation - educating our children to stay street smart is proving ever more challenging. Fortunately, Young Marmalade has road safety for young drivers covered from the moment the provisional license drops through the letterbox with a new course specifically for 16 year olds recently introduced.

A prayer for all concerned parents with off-spring keen to jump from the back seat to the driver"s seat, Young Marmalade has come up with the ultimate solution. A one size fits-all package, the combined car purchase, low-cost insurance scheme is jam-packed with incentives for driver and parent - excellent rates on some of the safest cars on the road plus fixed price comprehensive insurance cover with policy pricing determined by age, not postcode. And as if all that wasn"t enough, there are discounts on second year insurance if the driver stays claim free, plus access to a stylish new or nearly new car offering cool features such as a CD player and modern safety measures such as air bags.

In addition to the economical purchase price, parents are also given practical help and advice to help their children stay on the road to a long and safe driving career. There"s a safe driver agreement which parents can work through with their young driver, setting out ground rules for on-the-road conduct. A no-nonsense document created by Young Marmalade after discussions with hundreds of parents, the agreement sets out terms such as no talking on mobiles while driving, no more than two or three passengers and adhering to speed limits and parking restrictions.

"While parents play a key role in conventional education, they can often take a backseat when it comes to safe driving," says Crispin Moger. "Education and proper training are the corner stones to staying safe on the road and with Young Marmalade"s easy access to Pass Plus and Drive and Survive, youngsters are guaranteed expert guidance to becoming confident, self-assured, street-wise drivers."

Purveyors of safe motoring for style-conscious teens, Young Marmalade also advises parents to take trips out with their offspring, spending time in the car to assess driving habits and instilling confidence in the newest members of the motoring community.

To help young drivers and their parents enjoy their time behind the wheel, YoungMarmalade.co.uk offers lots of handy tips and advice with comments and statistics from motoring journalists, safety first organisations and insurance experts.
